Hello!

I must have comics on the brain today because 3 out of the 5 things today are comic related. I like to make these emails a little more diverse, but sometimes you just gotta go where your heart wants to take you. So, here's 5 things I thought you'd appreciate this weekend:

1) First YouTube Video in over a Year

My schedule finally opened up enough this week to put some time into making some youtube videos. My first one in over a year just dropped a few minutes ago. I'm picking up right where I left off talking about making comics. Hope you like it!

2) Coming of Age story about a Young Hunter Girl...who is a crab

From the Department of Creative Bank Accounting, Comics Division

Massive Crustacean is a four part comic by Will Tempest that takes place on another world where the dominant sentient intelligent life form is a society of crab people.

I thought it was pretty cool. Great world building going on here. Will had a nice little vignette of a story to tell and he got in there and made a thing. Didn't need to be flashy or over thought, just straight forward story telling. I like that. Getting inspired.

3) Indiana Jones had a comic series???

How did I not know about this? I feel like I would have at least read one of these issues, but we completely missed each other. I'm guess they aren't that good, otherwise my buddy Kohl would've told me about them.

Still, there's some fun 80's pulpy cover designs going on here. Making me all nostalgic for all the fun times I would've had reading these as a kid if I knew about them.

4) A Monkey For good Measure

5) Jackson Pollock had a good dad

Came across this letter that Jackson Pollock's father sent him one summer while his dad was away working to earn money to support the family. The letter is kind hearted, with nuggets of wisdom and humility. You can read the whole thing here: LINK​

But the main takeaway is his dad's take on how to be truly successful in life:

I like that. Trying to be fully away to everything about me; the good, the bad, the needs improvement. You gotta know what works for you, what doesn't, and how to amplify the good and suffocate the bad.
